Important Safety Notice

New Widetech, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission along with Health Canada and Profeco, is recalling certain AeonAir, Amana, ArcticAire (Danby), Classic (Danby / Home Hardware Stores), Commercial Cool, Danby, Danby Designer, Danby Premiere, De’Longhi, EdgeStar, Friedrich, Generations (Danby), Haier, Honeywell (JMATEK / AirTek), Idylis, Ivation, perfect aire, SuperClima, Whirlpool, and Whynter brand dehumidifiers manufactured before September 1, 2017, because under certain circumstances these dehumidifiers can overheat and catch fire posing fire and burn hazards.

NWT is offering consumers with a recalled dehumidifier an appropriate refund commensurate with the age of the dehumidifiers.

Please use the verification tool below to determine if your unit is affected by this recall. Please note that if you do not see the brand or model of your unit listed, then your unit is not affected. Please check all sides of your unit to locate the rating sheet that lists your brand, model and serial number. On some brands, the serial number will be listed on a separate label.

You will need to enter in your unit's Model and Serial Number in the verification tool below to determine if it is affected. Images of each affected brand as well as an example of the rating sheet with a guide for where to find the Model and Serial Number for your specific brand are available here.

DO NOT CUT YOUR DEHUMIDIFIER CORD UNTIL YOU VERIFY THAT YOUR UNIT IS ONE OF THE RECALLED UNITS. If your unit is affected, you will need to upload photos to demonstrate ownership and destruction by cutting the dehumidifier’s power cord. Please be sure you have access to your unit and to a device that can take a photo and upload a photo before continuing with this registration.

Photo Evidence of Unit Recalled

Please provide a photo that allows us to see and identify the affected unit. Your photo should show the complete rating sheet, including the brand, model and serial number. If the model and serial number are not included on the rating sheet, please be sure your image captures the rating sheet and the separate label with the serial number.

Power Cord Cut

Unplug your dehumidifier. Then carefully cut the wire to the plug and write your name and today's date on the back of the dehumidifier, next to the rating sheet. Take a photograph that shows the cut power cord, your name and the date.
